In
the art classes at The Children's Garden studio our emphasis
is on studio art: sculpture and assemblage rather than arts
and crafts. This allows us to focus on, and to nurture, the
organic development of the child's visual and kinesthetic
sensitivities. Encouraging and developing a child's natural
ability through the arts is a lifetime gift. When you and
your child are actively playing with the arts, you are helping
to develop their ability to explore new ideas and discover
valuable experiences.
Our program
draws from Waldorf, Montessori and Metropolitian Museum of Art
education principles. The materials we use are of the highest
quality. Process is emphasized as well as the pure enjoyment
of color, materials and the joy of expression. The curriculum
for the Studio Art segment is based on the teaching and artistic
experience of Kia Woods, director of The Children's Garden Studio. |
